Last week went by fairly fast since I had decided to take a week vacation from work. I decided it was only fair since everyone else around me has been taking 2-3 weeks off and I always get volunteered to pick up their work. So my vacation started a few days ago on Monday, but I have yet to feel relaxed or go anywhere with my kids. Despite the start of my vacation on Monday, I still had to go in to finish some papers I didn't get to last Friday because of an incident with my youngest son, Tristan, and a bead. Basically he had managed to insert a bead up his left nostril. Thankfully I was barely driving out of the driveway when I glanced at my reareview mirror and saw the nanny waving frantically at me to get my attention. Tristan's nose was bleeding and the yaya (or "nanny" in tagalog) told me that she thinks he had inserted one of his brother's legos in there while she went to prepare them breakfast. I didn't want to mess with the thing in fear of pushing it up further his nasal cavity, but I felt around it and did feel something lodge in there so I rushed him to ER while yaya and my eldest waited in the car watching a DVD. Thankfully he had only inserted a toy in one nostril and not both, because my initial reaction was fear that he had done that and he wouldn't be able to get enough oxygen or suffocation. But looking at hime I knew he wasn't having any sort of respiratory distress, and his O2 sat was 98% when it got checked at the hospital and by then he had stopped crying, his nose had stopped bleeding and he was playing as if he didn't have anything stuck up his nose. I was just grateful that there wasn't the usual long wait in the ER at the time and we managed to get the lego--which ended up to be a bead--out and taken care of. We left the ER with him suspiciously eyeing the poor male nurse who had to wrap him up burrito-style in a blanket and hold him still while another nurse extracted the bead. We were all surprise when the bead came out since I had thought it was a lego (since that was what his older brother was playing with). But it was a bead, which was extremely puzzling since I don't have beads at home. I don't have any jewelry that has beads and according to yaya, neither does she. So we were both puzzled as how he managed to get a hold of a tiny little orange plastic bead. But as said, I'm just grateful that it was a minor case of child inserting something up his nose and having it taken out without further incident. Needless to say, Yaya and I went though their toy box to dispose of any more suspicous little objects the little one's might've picked up around the house.
As for the rest of my vacation, well...Monday I already mentioned I had to go in to finish up some papers I didn't get to last Friday; Tuesday I got called in to handle some billing, and Wednesday I got asked to open the office and ended up staying until 1:00 PM and did a little work. Today, Thursday, was my actual only day in this joke of a week vacation where I didn't go to the office, but I did have to go run around and buy the stuff for my youngest's birthday party for this Sunday. His birthday was actually at the end of January, but his party got postponed because my cousin had gotten married at the end of January, and my parents were busy all through the month of February so planning a birthday party at that time wasn't ideal since they wouldn't have been able to attend. So now--FINALLY--my Tristan will have his 3rd birthday party this Sunday, and today was spent ordering the cake, the catering and I spent at leat 2 hours at Party City trying to decide what to put in the little munckins party bag...or whatever they're called...fun pack...giveaways...eh...whatever. I couldn't find a pinata, though. My boyfriend told me I had to go to a hispanic place to get them, but my brain refused to come up with any places. I know there's some, but by that time my brain had done some running around a list already that it had refused to properly function by then. So tomorrow my boyfriend and I are going to this one place to rent some more chairs for the backyard, get balloons, and get a pinata. My mother had said she was going to add coins and some dollar bills in the pinata to make it more fun, and I told her in that case I'm sure my aunt will join the chaos and push kids around to get to the money. But she's right in this one case: it WILL be more fun and interesting to watch
I have to open the office tomorrow again...
This vacation sucks...
...and this Saturday, actually for the next four consecutive Saturdays, I have to attend an administrative seminar for the office, which doubly sucks since it's from 8am-5pm. Eh. A whole day locked up in a room listening to someone blab about administrative responsibilities that I'm sure would bore me to tears. But I suppose I shouldn't complain so much since it is for a bigger paycheck...But I can already feel the boredom weighing upon me on the not-so-anticipated four Saturdays.
I'm holding all photography and any digital art right now until probably the next week or two. This is the first time since my "vacation" that I was able to sign in my deviantArt. How sad is that?!
Eeeehhh! It's almost 1am so I have to cut my tirade short. Have to wake up early and open the office in a few hours. What a sucky vacation.</p>
But I guess I see the humor in it
